Points land
Rivian's support page says within 24 hours of delivery. Owners often report closer to two weeks. If nothing shows after that, contact Rivian with your order number.
Rivian runs this itself, so there is no coupon and nobody in the middle. You attach a referral code to a new R1T or R1S order, and after the car is delivered Rivian credits both sides.
Points are the main currency. They sit in your Rivian account and buy things from the Gear Shop and the R1 Shop. Accessories, apparel, gear. Rivian's terms also allow them against a future vehicle purchase, but not toward a deposit, a reservation, taxes or regulatory fees.
One thing to know before you count the value. Rivian does not publish a dollar figure per point anywhere on its own site. The one point to one dollar figure you see quoted everywhere traces back to press coverage at the 2024 launch, not to Rivian. Treat it as a strong hint rather than a promise.
Only new R1 orders earn points, which means the R1T pickup and the R1S SUV. An R2 order earns nothing, though points you already hold can go toward one.
The code has to be on the order before you submit it. This is the part people get wrong, and it is unforgiving. Rivian will not attach a referral afterwards and there is no appeal, so a code you remember on delivery day is worth nothing.
